Midway the story splits and Regan (pursued and eventually aided by Emmett) journeys on to seek a possible haven. Still grieving the loss of husband and father they find a kindred spirit in Emmett who has lost both son and wife. The action picks up at Day 474 and chronicles the Abbotts journey from the ruins of their former home to find a safer refuge and other survivors. Other than an opening that shows how it all started in Day 1. This enables the story to expand in location and adds a couple of bigger names in Cillian Murphy (very good) and Djimon Hounsou (good). He has crafted a taut, well paced, intense sci-fi/horror thriller that combines the best elements of the original with a bigger budget. This is his fourth film as director and its clear that this is a smart career move. And Krasinski (Emily Blunt's real life husband) is back behind the camera.
However, luckily this is a sequel that sticks to the winning formula of the first.Īll of the original cast return.
Unlike Millicent Simmonds who it seems doesn't have any. So A Quiet Place 2 has big boots to fill. And A Quiet Place was a sleeper hit that resonated well with audiences. I do think the story line and characters rather lends itself to a future miniseries and I could definitely see myself binging on a few seasons if that ever became a reality! 5 people found this helpful I wouldn’t describe either A Quiet Place or A Quiet Place Part II as a horror films but they certainly are tense at times and anyone who enjoyed the first film, will certainly not be disappointed with A Quiet Place Part II. I think this is an intelligent drama and very well acted.

The remainder of the Abbott family continue to adapt and learn how to survive and outsmart the alien creatures that hunt them by sound. The characters of film one continue to be developed, especially that of the deaf daughter, Regan, who goes from being a bit of a black sheep in the first film to a strong and brave young lady in the second. The film starts off with a glimpse of the beginning of the alien invasion on Day 1 then continues on Day 474, the day the first film, A Quiet Place, ends. I really enjoyed Part II of A Quiet Place. Awesome performance from all the actors and actresses - although John was missing to guide the scenes from the inside, that didn't take away from the movie. I was waiting for plot holes and such and it shows that someone with intelligence written and directed this movie. But a huge congratulations to John who did it again! Although different kind than the first(which is good because you cannot repeat that) almost as equally good - probably I'm saying this because of the new family thing but the suspense was perfect in that. I don't want to spoil anything for anybody so I'm not going to say exact things from the movie.
The intelligence of this family which was there in the first movie, evident in the second too. Oh the emotions, seeing Lee(Krasinski) with the kids before everything started and the initial terror on their faces when the creatures arrived. The first one pushed the bar sooo high I was sure it won't come close and I'll be disappointed. There were things that came through anyway and I was afraid I won't like the next movie. Try to avoid trailers and such because for me they can ruin the actual viewing experience. We were afraid what a sequel can bring to the table. It was John Krasinski 's love letter to their children and it was the best kind of love letter I 'read' in a long time. As new parents with a small baby on my chest at the time of watching we were awashed with emotions.
